Replacing Your Snacks For Work

You’re about to be late! You’re running out the door, so you toss some food into a bag, and you’re off to work. What is it that you tossed in there? Did you choose things that are beneficial for your oral health? Or, did you just grab the usual stuff that your taste buds go crazy for, telling yourself that you will do better tomorrow? When you’re not really sure how to replace the things you like or what to choose, it can make this experience more difficult. Let us share some easy tips!

Reach For Dairy

Do you usually grab a bag of chips on the way out the door? Something else that’s full of carbs? Why not bring along a single serving of yogurt? Pack yourself some string cheese! Dairy is beneficial to your oral health, so you can nibble away on it without concern for your smile. It’s full of calcium and can help protect you from tooth decay (it certainly won’t cause it).

Grab The Water Bottle, Not The Other Stuff

It’s very common for patients to pop a bottled coffee drink, soda, juice, or energy drink into their bag. When possible, choose water instead! It’s hydrating (good for your body and smile), it cleans teeth, it keeps your mouth pH neutral … what more could you ask for?

Try Lean Protein

If you visualize chowing down on a lean steak at your desk and don’t understand, think again! Take a stroll through your grocery store and check out the meat aisle. You will discover that there are actually some pre-prepped snack packs ready to go in many cases. Small servings of deli meats, maybe a hard boiled egg, and even a little hummus on the side is beneficial for your oral health! It tastes good, too.
