By Wright Smiles

As the colder months approach, are you already starting to experience the winter blues as they apply to your pucker? If so, you don’t have a thing to worry about. When you have an arsenal ready for protecting your smile against dipping temps and biting winds, you can kick the blues and expect to smile a comfortable smile and enjoy optimal oral health. With just a handful of helpful and very easy to accomplish tips, you’ll be looking forward to all of the delights that come with winter!

Tip #1: Slather On The Lip Balm

Your lip health is an important part of your oral health. When your lips are dry, cracked, uncomfortable, and chapped, it does not bode well for your daily comfort. The good news is that it doesn’t take much to keep your smile hydrated. Make sure you’re drinking enough water on a daily basis. Of course, you will also want to find a lip balm that you like (and keep it handy). Slather it on at will, so your lips do not dehydrate.

Tip #2: Cover Up With A Scarf

Do you find that the winter wind ends up drying the skin around your mouth, dries your lips, and is uncomfortable to your teeth? Remember that covering up when you’re outside is a simple yet highly effective way to keep you comfortable. Reach for a scarf and wrap it nice and high, so your smile is covered up when you’re outdoors. It makes a big difference.

Tip #3: Don’t Ignore Tooth Sensitivity

It’s normal to feel a bit of sensitivity when you leave a heated building and emerge into frosty temps. However, if you noticed continued sensitivity and/or discomfort as the result of hot or cold foods, come in for a visit. If it’s an underlying oral health issue, we can treat it right away.
