What Does Smile Improvement Mean to You?

By Wright Smiles

Whether you flash it or hide it, your smile (or lack of one) is one of the first things that others notice about you, especially during a first impression. If you’re self-conscious about your smile, then your lack of confidence can have a tangible effect on your social and professional interactions. As a highly-experienced, AACD-accredited cosmetic dentist, Dr. Wright offers a wealth of services to address the most common cosmetic dental problems so you can learn to enjoy your smile again.

Common Cosmetic Dental Problems

Stained Teeth

Stains and changes in your teeth’s color are the most common dental issues, since they can occur even in the midst of excellent oral hygiene. For most surface, or extrinsic, tooth stains, Dr. Wright and Dr. Victoria Heron often recommend professional teeth whitening to brighten your smile either in our office or in the form of a customized take-home kit.

Crowded/Gapped Teeth

Crowding and spacing problems can make an otherwise healthy smile seem crooked and off-balance. Cosmetic dental bonding with tooth-colored composite resin can help improve minor spacing issues, or Dr. Wright and Dr. Heron may suggest one or more porcelain veneers.

Crooked Teeth

Crooked teeth could affect more than your smile’s appearance; they can throw your bite off balance and lead to damaged teeth and exhausted jaw joints. Slightly crooked teeth might be improved with porcelain veneers, or with clear, cosmetic braces, such as Realine®. Clear braces consist of invisible acrylic aligners, rather than brackets and wires, to provide the utmost discretion while straightening your teeth.

Chipped, Cracked, or Broken Teeth

Some patients can go years before needing to treat a chipped tooth, and if the damage is superficial, then it can be considered a cosmetic issue. Structural damage that exposes your tooth’s inner tissues, however, requires immediate treatment to prevent an internal tooth infection. After cleaning the tooth, if necessary, Dr. Wright or Dr. Heron can place a lifelike porcelain dental crown over it to revamp its appearance while protecting it from bacteria and the pressures of biting and chewing.

Old or Shiny Metal Dental Fillings

Metal amalgam fillings have been popular for more than 100 years, but with the advent of tooth-colored composite resin, white fillings have quickly become equally popular, if not more so. Tooth-colored fillings not only blend in with your smile, they also provide a more effective seal against bacteria when bonded to your tooth’s structure.
