If you do, then we can decide what the crown will look like, taking into consideration the material the crown will be made of, its color, texture, and shape.
- Next, the tooth must be measured and prepared for the crown’s placement. Your tooth will be reshaped to hold the crown, but also measured to make sure the crown is the right size. A temporary crown will be put on your tooth to protect it while the permanent crown is crafted.
- Finally, your finished permanent crown will be placed on your tooth during your next scheduled visit. We’ll replace the temporary crown with the permanent one, making adjustments if necessary to ensure its proper appearance and comfortable fit.
How to Take Care of a Crown
Dental crowns are designed to last. You can brush your teeth twice a day and floss once to help take care of your crown, as well as your natural healthy teeth. We’ll offer tips on how to floss around your crown for maximum cleaning efficiency, as well as what foods might dislodge your restoration if you aren’t careful.
