2 Tips After Receiving Restorative Care

By Wright Smiles

Before you come to our practice for restorative care, you may have a lot of things on your mind – what to expect, how the procedure will feel, and items of concern regarding the immediate future. What you may not think much about, however, is the best way to maintain your newly restored oral health once you return home. Fortunately, we are happy to offer a couple helpful tips to head you in the right direction. By maintaining dedicated habits even after we have brought your smile back to a wonderful state of health, you will continue to reap the benefits.

Tip #1: Follow Our Instructions

First and foremost, the best way to make the most of your restorative care experience is to follow our post-procedure instructions word for word. For instance, don’t immediately eat hard foods, avoid chewing gum, and remember to rest if we suggest it. Your smile needs a bit of time to rest and heal after procedures. Giving yourself the recovery time necessary means the restoration will remain intact and your natural tissues will heal successfully, so you won’t find yourself right back in the dental chair for a repair.

Tip #2: Keep Going With Preventive Care

Congratulations – your smile is in good health again. While this is certainly something to celebrate, we suggest you don’t let it go to your head. Plaque still coats your teeth every day and you still need to keep up with preventive care so you don’t find yourself in need of more restorative care treatments. Fortunately, this is extremely easy to accomplish. Make sure you’re brushing and flossing daily and that you continue to set up preventive care visits twice annually.
