What are Porcelain Veneers?

By Wright Smiles

No matter how well you take care of your teeth, you can’t always guarantee that their youthful, exuberant, and blemish-free appearance will last forever. Fortunately, you can regain your smile’s confidence if its beauty is marred by one or more cosmetic issues. In most cases, porcelain veneers can help rejuvenate teeth that are afflicted by any of a number of different blemishes, making them one of the most versatile, effective, and successful solutions available today.

Making Porcelain Veneers

Dental veneers are thin shells of porcelain that fit onto the front surfaces of one or more teeth. After your dentist carefully prepares and measures your teeth, the measurements are sent to a laboratory to be hand-crafted by a highly-skilled artisan. Once they are ready, your veneers will be sent back to our office so we can bond them to your teeth, correcting your various cosmetic blemishes in a single procedure.

They’re Contribution to Your Smile

Their unique nature makes porcelain veneers an effective treatment option for a wide variety of cosmetic dentistry issues, including;

  • Severely and/or internally stained teeth
  • Teeth with chipped or jagged edges
  • Teeth that are asymmetrical, oddly spaced, or appear smaller than those around them
  • Slightly crooked (provided they don’t need orthodontic treatment)
  • And more

Choosing Veneers

If you experience any cosmetic dental issue, then porcelain veneers may be a viable option, but they are not always preferable. For instance, teeth whitening might improve stained teeth’s appearance without having to modify your teeth to accept veneers. Or, if you only have one tooth that needs attention, then it might benefit more from a dental crown than a single veneer.
