Are you familiar with Bob Jones and the Bob Jones Nature Center? Bob Jones was a man born into slavery who went on to become a successful landowner in the Southlake area in the early 1900s. He raised a family, built a church, promoted education, built a school, and more, contributing in major ways to the rich history of our community. Learn more about his life and celebrate Black History Month by attending In Celebration Of Black History Month At Bob Jones Nature Center.

The Event

This is an event during which you may learn more about Bob Jones’ life and his contributions, while celebrating Black History Month. This is an all day event, so show up to learn more about Southlake and its history!

The Date and Time

The event will happen on February 10th, 2018 from 10am to 4pm. You may come and go as you wish. The following is a schedule of activity highlights:

  • 10:00 through 4:00pm: Video screening of “In Our Backyard” and more!
  • 10:30am: A guided hike
  • 12:30pm: Decee Cornish tells stories about Bob Jones
