Q&A: What is Emergency Dentistry?

You suddenly experience a severe toothache or a filling comes loose, what do you do? You should contact your Southlake TX emergency dentist, Dr. Gregory Wright. We understand that emergency situations rarely happen during business hours and as part of our approach to emergency dentistry, our office is always just a phone call away.

Common Questions About Emergency Dentistry

Question: When can my Southlake TX emergency dentist see me?

Answer: When you find yourself faced with a dental emergency, then call Dr. Wright. We will schedule a time to see you as soon as possible. However, if your problem is life threatening, call 911 immediately.

Question: What should I do if something becomes stuck between my teeth?

Answer: Why it may not seem like something worthy of emergency dentistry, an object stuck between your teeth can cause major discomfort. First, floss gently on either side of the tooth and rinse with warm water. If this fails to dislodge the object, then contact Dr. Wright. Never use anything other than floss to try and remove something stuck between your teeth.

Question: If I break a tooth, should I bring pieces with me?

Answer: Yes. In the event of a chipped tooth, bring any pieces you can find with you to see Dr. Wright. Using dental bonding or possibly a dental crown, he will restore your broken tooth to full function and health.

Question: What should I do if one of my teeth becomes knocked-out?

Answer: First, only pick the tooth up by the crown, never the root. Rinse the tooth under running water to remove dirt and debris, but don’t remove any tissue adhering to the tooth. If you can, put the tooth back into the socket and gently bite down to hold in place. If this is impossible, place the tooth in a glass of milk and bring it with you.
