Summer is just around the corner; another season of road trips, barbecues, and pool parties with your family and friends! Some of the greatest memories in a person’s life are made during summer, and since nearly everyone’s phone has a camera embedded in it, those memories are likely to be captured many times over. When you reminisce over the photos, you’d probably want your smile to compliment the fun and joy of the memory, rather than be hidden behind an embarrassed hand or half-closed mouth. If your teeth are discolored, chipped, unevenly spaced, or slightly crooked, then porcelain veneers might be just the right solution for you.
Are Porcelain Veneers Right for Me?
Your smile is an important social instrument. You use it to speak, smile, and convey a wealth of subtle messages that can’t be translated through words or body language. Unfortunately, the teeth that comprise your smile can stain, chip, break, or develop numerous other cosmetic blemishes due to a lifetime of use. When your adult teeth are damaged or permanently stained, the affects can’t be reversed. They can, however, be corrected, and porcelain veneers can often rejuvenate your smile in just one procedure, even if you have multiple concerns about your teeth.
How Long Is the Procedure?
Porcelain veneers are wafer-thin sells of dental porcelain that are designed specifically to fit the front surfaces of your teeth, and placing them usually requires at least two visits. During the first visit, Dr. Wright or Dr. Heron will consult with you to determine your goals for the final outcome. If veneers are the appropriate choice, then we’ll prepare your teeth by sculpting a minimal amount of tooth enamel (less that 0.5 mm) from their front surfaces. A mold of your mouth will be created and sent to an off-site dental lab, where your custom-veneers will be made according to our specific instructions. After a couple of weeks, the veneers will arrive at our office, and Dr. Wright or Dr. Heron will carefully bond them to your teeth during your next visit.
