In a poll conducted by the AACD, whiter teeth is on top of most people’s cosmetic wish list. If you’ve been thinking about consulting your dentist for teeth whitening, then you are not alone. More and more people are seeing the value of brighter teeth in their lives. If you’re tired of stained teeth, then a brighter smile can significantly increase your self confidence. For your convenience, Drs. Wright and Heron offer two different methods of teeth whitening, each tailored to your specific needs and preferences.

What Is Teeth Whitening?

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic procedure that can brighten the hue of your teeth up to 10 shades. The procedure involves applying a bleaching gel that exfoliates stains from your teeth. The two methods of teeth whitening we offer–in-office and at-home–can achieve similar results, and both are designed to fit easily into your hectic schedule.

In-Office Treatment

Our doctors use Zoom! Whitening for effective, instantaneous results. The treatment utilizes a UV light to stimulate the bleaching gel, allowing it to penetrate your teeth’s surfaces (tooth enamel) to brighten your teeth quicker.

Take-Home Treatment

A take-home treatment utilizes a dental tray and a peroxide gel to achieve teeth whitening. The treatment is applied at the comfort of your own home while your dentist supervises its progress. Drs. Wright and Heron will start by customizing a dental tray based on your teeth for a snug and comfortable fit. The dental tray will serve as the basin for the whitening gel, assuring even application onto every tooth. The tray can either be worn overnight or anytime during the day. When used as-directed, take-home whitening can achieve results in as little as one to two weeks.

Which Treatment is Better?

Both in-office and take-home whitening treatments achieve similar results. If you have concerns about time, work schedule, or urgent events, then expresses them to Drs. Wright and Heron so they can recommend the best option for you.
