3 Things You’re Getting Wrong

3 Things You’re Getting Wrong

By Wright Smiles

When you’re reviewing your dental care, you may wonder if you’ve been making some rationalizations, convincing yourself of things that aren’t true to make yourself feel better, and if perhaps you need a wakeup call. In many cases, patients become either a little too worried about their care or way too laid back. Since you’re not a dentist, we understand that you may require a refresher from time to time. Fortunately, we are happy to help by suggesting a few things you may be getting wrong (no worries, they’re easy to fix).

Waiting A Year For A Visit Is A Big Deal

You might think that missing one of your twice-annual dental care visits isn’t a big deal. However, it is! You really do need to come in to see us every six months. Otherwise, even though you think brushing and flossing more will help (it won’t), small amounts of plaque will turn into tartar. The more tartar on your teeth, the more difficult it is to thoroughly clean them. In addition, problems like gum disease can begin without your noticing it. Come see us. Every six months will give you the protection you need.

Keeping Your Toothbrush Too Long Is Not Good

Don’t fall victim to the, “I’ll buy a new toothbrush soon!” routine or assume that because it looks new, it’s just fine. It isn’t! Buy yourself a new one every three months to four months. It will ensure your dental care is actually effective.

Spending The Time On Your Smile Is Commendable

Maybe you give yourself a pat on the back for brushing twice a day and flossing and then feel a little bit silly. Don’t let yourself wonder if your efforts are worth it: They are! Keep up the good work and you can expect your smile to shine!
